Preschool Class (3-5 years) is a unique, integrated program providing a special education learning environment where children with atypical development can grow, learn and play alongside typically developing peers. The class provides instruction on a pre-academic level, utilizing art, play, social and group activities. Children's educational needs are addressed using direct instruction, Natural Language Paradigm (NLP), visual strategies, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and social facilitation techniques, focusing on the development of increased independence and competence within a structured preschool environment.
Villa's special children learn from their typically developing peers, imitating and modeling their behavior and language and learning to respond to and initiate interactions in natural settings. The integrated experience also allows each child to appreciate at an early age the diversity of strengths and needs of others in our communities.
