Community Integration Program

Villa's Community Integration Program (CIP) is a community-based day program designed to meet the needs of adults living with intellectual/developmental disabilities who have a strong desire to work. A CIP Spotlight Story

This achievement award is going to someone who exemplifies hard work, team works and remarkable personal growth. When this person first joined CIP he was reserved, only spoke a few words and wanted to keep to himself. He was not interested in social interactions and often wanted to be left alone. This person is very strong willed and wanted to do things when he wanted and how he wanted which made it hard for staff to connect with him at first, but we never gave up and neither did he. Over time we witnessed an incredible transformation now this person communicates with both staff and peers he asks where his staff is when she’s running late and he’s excited to know what’s for lunch on fun Fridays and he warmly greets and says goodbye to his friends. For those of you who know this person you know how big of a milestone this is for him, we could not be any prouder. This person is not only a dedicated worker who doesn’t stop until the job is perfectly done but he is also a true team player who is always ready to lend a hand. It has been an honor to support David in this journey and we are privileged to witness his continued growth with this success. I am proud to present this achievement award to David Tista!

What are our participants saying?

“The Humane Society is my favorite volunteer site. I like working with the bunnies and helping them do exercise.”

— Teresa, CIP Participant

“I never had confidence in my whole life, and Villa gave me that confidence. It’s been the best gift anyone has ever given me. Now when I face something difficult or something that’s hard, I have the confidence to keep persevering, and I don’t give up.”

— Danny, CIP Participant

“CIP increased my confidence and helped give me a better life. The staff are my support; they help me when I need them.”

Meet Your Administrator

The participants are the primary reason Perla Moran is so passionate about working at CIP and why she has stayed at Villa for over a decade. “It’s incredibly rewarding to witness their growth, both in their work and social skills, and to see them develop as individuals,” she says. A Cal State Northridge graduate with a BA in Psychology, Perla is person-center trained and bilingual (Spanish). She has worked as a direct support professional for adults and elderly people, behavioral interventionalist in both home and school settings, and job coach. Once at Villa, she started as a Skills Instructor and advanced to becoming CIP Program Supervisor.

Perla’s expert planning and communication skills ensure CIP runs smoothly, earning positive feedback from families. She excels in problem-solving and critical thinking, always prepared with a backup plan for unexpected challenges. A collaborative team player, Perla values the CIP staff and actively seeks their input during events. She knows that staff often offer creative solutions that enhance the program; involving them in decision-making helps foster a sense of connection and inclusivity. With the belief that emotional intelligence and leadership go hand in hand, Perla’s ability to empathize allows staff and participants to feel a strong sense of belonging.

“I truly enjoy how fun the program is!” says Perla. “CIP fosters an environment where having a good time is an integral part of the experience for participants and staff.”
